No, they are very difficult, they require specific water specifications, lots of room, certain substrate qualities and most have a hard time eating in captivity. You can do it if you want just do a lot of research on them first most people that have them as pets do not take as good of care of them as they need. Oh and by the way sting rays are not dangerous like people are saying. Irwin was a freak accident only 3 people have been killed in Australia from any kind of sting ray. But you can be killed by anything right? Your aquarium could break and the glass hit you in just the right way or your guppy could jump up your nose and cause a deadly infection.

I component that in case you found out that they have been felony and you had the flexibility to guard 1 then you definately could choose for it. they're very beautiful while they're gliding around.

fresh water stingrays make excellent pets. provide them with a sandy substrate and be careful around the barb. I have seen a motoro stingray that would eat out of its owners hand.

There is a smaller fresh water stingray. If your able to have atleast 4ft long tank...the sand doesn't clog a good filter. They seem interesting,, kinda like my tarantula's but they don't really move much so its more something to get into if your really serious.. Remember they can live years and years.. Heck even my oldest spider is over 10yrs.. and have had one fish live over 15..

if you are an expert at tking care of that kind of fish i had one and i found it rather hard and picky to feed they usually feed on crustations and worms and i had a hard time feeding mine. plus they need really good water quality and sand for substrate i would either do alot of research or just forget the stingray as a pet. also they need to have shallow water and alot of surface area to move around.

Not really.
They have really strict environmental requirements. It's expensive to set it all up and keep it running.
They don't live very long even under the best circumstances.
They get HUGE!!
