Ppl always use "Emo" as an adj. Like, someone would say"I'm so Emo today"or"that is so Emo". What the heck!? and also I didn't know "Emo" was to discab music. I mean I listen to 30 seconds to mars. WHY CAN'T IT JUST BE CALLED ROCK??!!! GOSH! I'm so mad about this stuff and being Emo is not good! it's cutting ur self.Isn't it?!

I'm a fan of Green Day, old and new.
I don't like it when people make fun of them and call them emo, either.
They're a punk rock group. As such, it is ignorant to lump them under the emo umbrella, which is ambiguous at best.
Like you said, people who are generally accepted to be emo may purposefully injure themselves or be chronically depressed, and choose to express this depression in ways that may offend others, including cynicism and/or pity-seeking.
My music is not emo.
You're just too oblivious to appreciate my tastes.

First of all, you sound really close minded and ignorant saying "emo is when you cut yourself" no,emo was coined back in the day by a specific individual. Not by Hawthorne Heights or even 30 sec. to mars. Emo is a slang term used to describe a range of fashion styles and attitudes somewhat affiliated with emo music and its related scene. As an adjective, emo can describe a style of fashion or music; or a general state of unhappiness or melancholy (as in to "feel emo"). Emo is also used as a noun, often pejoratively, to identify a member of the "emo scene" or someone viewed as fitting the "emo" stereotype.

haha well when some says they're emo is because they feel depressed. its true that emo ppl cut their wrists, but thats only hard core emo ppl...as to the music im pretty preppy and listen to emo music (like talks about heartbreak and jumping off buildings, killing their g/fs) it doesnt really matter...
