The Shiites and the Sunnis are different sects of Islam, and differ in the way that they interpret the Koran. The Shiites are prominent in Iran, and make up 60% of the Iraqi Muslims, but during the reign of So-damn-Insane, the Sunnis. backed by the Baathist party were basically in power, and spent a lot of time persecuting the Shiites, which is fuelling the fires of a burgeoning Civil war in Iraq.

Both shia and sunnis are muslims. Arabs is a nationality/ethnicity. Arabs can be sunni, shia, christians or even buddhists. Nationality has nothing to do with religion. Religion is a personal choice, nationality/ethnicity is not.

Shia and Sunnis are denominations of Islam religion, their difference is on their belief of their caliphs. The Shia believes that their imam is Ali, while the Sunnis believe that there are other four caliphs after mohammad. While Arabs are ethnic group that speak arabic that originated in arabian peninsula.

Arab referrers to ethnicity ... or country of origin. Shia and Sunni referrs to sects in the religion of Islam. An analogy would be the difference between Catholic and Protestant.

They're just clans, like the clans of Ireland, Scotland and the rest of the world had. And what do clans do but bicker over power and for power and until they realize they're in the new
world with everyone else and they are no longer
Sunni or Shia but Iraqi, or Iranian, they will fight for power just like the Catholics and the Protestants in Northern Ireland. Its what has to happen for a society to grow, if they're lucky, a strong leader will emerge who will bring both sides together as one people. Just growing pains which the Americans are caught in the middle of.
