I am an intermediate high school player and I am wondering - What is the advantage of a new mouthpiece?

Also, are there any mouthpieces that you would recommend?

Thanks!

If your current mouthpiece has any physical defects like chips or cracks, then you should definately get a new one. Different mouthpieces also produce different tone quality and can improve your tone and intonation. Get your band director to reccommend a good mouthpiece; Hite and Selmer both make excellent and fairly inexpensive mouthpieces that can be found in most any music store. If possible, take your clarinet in and test play a few until you find one you like and sound good on.

The mouthpiece can make a huge difference. I use a Selmer C* mouthpiece that I love.

Having a new/good mouthpiece can only be a good thing if it is a trust-worthy brand and you have a good reed. But get the best mouthpiece you can. Vandoren are good reeds, and Kaspar is a good, popular mouthpiece.

It particularly relies upon on the participant. I used a Selmer C85 and surely enjoyed it, yet whilst i attempted a diverse C85 i did no longer. Your terrific guess is to circulate to a song shop and ask to objective a gaggle out, and notice which supplies the sound you're searching for. low value, good mouthpieces to objective: Selmer C85 or Selmer C* (C megastar)...yet attempt all of them! :)
