Seems to me that we're giving in to the pursuits of greed and power instead of trying to make this world a better place. Kofi Annan hit the nail on the head with his farewell speech last week and I was just wondering what we as individuals can do to restore our position in the world.

You are taking advice from a man that was a part of a food for oil scandal behind the UN's back. Kofi has an agenda.

I do not believe the US has compromised its values. We are a nation built on freedoms. Someitmes freedom does not translate into good times for all. There will be wars to fight, problems to over come, but our country will endure.

The communists tried to take us over in the 30's during the depression. We came together as a people and perservered. We choose freedom and our untiy and hard work pulled us through. In the 70's the world asked, has America loss its strength. The Carter administration lead the country down a road of high taxes, poor leadership and an inability to deal with middle east pressures. He also blamed everyday American's for this problem.

Today we face a similair struggle. High defecits, looming energy problems, a tough war to win, lagging public support for our enduring freedom and an American apathy. I believe the US will pull through again. It is the American way. The only problem we face, is 21 years of success from 1980 to 2001. We are slimply waking up again to the fact that life doesn't always mean lots of money, a house at the beach and good times. War and recession is part of the challenge. We will overcome because we believe.

In the 80's the Europeans critized the US as being war mongers. The Russians deployed nukes on trucks across eastern Europe. In response we did the same in Western Europe. Over 100,000 people marched in protest calling Reagan an criminal. In the end, the Russians retreated and 15 years later, their empire fell. The French don't remember that. But then again, they don't remember speaking German twice in the last 100 years.

In time people will understand, America is doing the right thing. We will succeed without the compromise of our Ideals.

You mean our position as a nation that took away land from Native Americans, gave them diptheria laced blankets, and made them leave their homes? Yeah, those were ideals worth keeping.

I hate the idea that we think we are so great that we can just go invade other countries and force our ways down their throats. We need to clean up our own house first.

perchance you ought to take a popularity from both lists.then replace them up somewhat.that way you both compromise. Like Layla (no longer lila) and Cecile(no longer Cecilia) at the same time.See what I propose? fairly, that one is rather catchy! Layla Cecile Hayes.only blame me if he hates it! yet, I see potential right here.Sophie Marie(magnolia is somewhat a lot!),Magnolia(Maggie!) Grace(in case you fairly like it!),Graclyn Aurora-if he would not like grace, you don't like aurelia.i like madeleine ruby at the same time!.Sarah Isabel,Lucy(will this be lucinda ideal?) Christina, reese(RaeAnn) patricia, perchance!

most people outside of america don't understand democracy. Iraqis certainly don't understand, hence the problems there. capitalism seems to be catching on in china though.
