Utah is a fun place to live! You have your usual diverse religions as well as Mormon. Depending on who you hang out with will determine what kind of friends you make as well as what kind of parties you find. Yes they are out there as well as the criminal element and the drugs ect. Pretty much like any big city in America, Salt Lake has it's share. If you like Bars, yes they have plenty of those too. Rock Climbing is kind of a summer sport, not much safety in climbing up a cliff in the snow! How ever we have Skiing, Snow boarding, ice skating, Boating, water skiing, Fishing, hunting, Cave exploring, as well as theater, Symphony, Scouting, Movie theaters, and the Circus comes to town once a year! Bowling, Shakespearean Festivals, Lagoon, Camping, Canyon lands and the Grand Canyon as well as the Timpanogas Cave! There are lots of different life styles and lots of things to do in Utah. And if you don't like the weather, Just wait an hour or two and it will change! Lots of friendly people in Utah!

I will say the many of the liquor laws in Salt Lake are a little different and at times hard to understand, especially compared to other cities. However, just like the others have said, you can find anything you want there. Although the University of Utah is just down the street from church headquarters, I think you will find only about half (if not less) are Mormon, the same proportion is very close to that of the whole valley. However, if you travel north (Bountiful) or south (Orem/Provo -BYU) you will find the Mormon ratio much higher. and the general attitude (as well as the number of bars and other things) is different. I'm Mormon myself, but prefer the Salt lake area myself. BTW, SLC is one of few "big" cities that it is still fairly safe to walk on the streets (just stay away from the west side). And I think you'd find this time of year wonderful with all the lights in the valley.

There are quite a few Mexicans living in Salt Lake City. Salt Lake is one of the nicest/ safest cities in America, but you can still find party people. I've heard that the bars close kinda early; all of the laws reflect that the Mormon church is very strong in Utah.

The figures are particularly diverse for SLC in specific and for something of Utah, on the grounds so you might ingredient in nonmormon components like Park city. So whilst Utah is around sixty %, SLC is slightly bigger. additionally, remember there are energetic mormons and the hatched matched and dispatched type who're at terrific activity mormons and at worst inactive yet born right into a mormon kinfolk. Census figures do no longer make any huge difference.
