i recently got a dvd player for my G4 Apple Mac and everything seems to be connected properly but for some reason it wont play DVD'S but it does recognize them. Help plz.

You need an application to play your DVDs. If you don't have Apple's DVD player, try VLC player.

Either get a different DVD or hack your DVD player to change the region code. Region codes are a silly thing the publishing companies (Sony, WB, and the rest) came up with. Basically, they make DVDs that only work in certain parts of the world. And because DVDs are encrypted, it's illegal to make any DVD player without the publishing companies' permission, which they won't give unless you agree to their terms.
