B.C. [Before Children], I would have been in bed with an outrageous hangover from drinking cheap champagne, unable to sleep, too wiped out to get out of bed, too queasy to partake of the traditional Southern New Year's vittles.
A.D. [Annoyingly Domesticated]: No hangovers these days. [good, but kinda sad] We will be cooking and eating at our house then going to another neighbor's to sample his New Year's feast and then going to yet another neighbor's to have a sit-down New Year's dinner.
The Menu(s) include:
Fried Chicken [our house], Ham [Neighbor 1], Pork Roast w/ Sauerkraut [Neighbor 3]
Hoppin' John [Black-eyed peas with rice] eaten for good luck
Collard Greens [or Cabbage or Spinach] for wealth in the New Year.
Corn Bread, Sweet Iced Tea
