There were attempts to enslave Native Americans.
But from my understanding, it would appear slavery was already part of African cultures Europeans dealt with and that other Africans sold the Europeans the slaves, and that these were used to being slaves and were more tame.
The Natives, however, were most likely to attempt to murder their owners during the night and flee in the wilderness. It also makes sense to think they can escape more easily, since they already know the area and already belong to a local culture.

as much as i hate to say this but this is why, they first tried to in slave the natives of places but they soon found out that the natives couldn't handle the work load because in most native tribes the women did all the manual labor. and they were on there own land so they tried to escape more often now the Africans on the other hand came across the sea so they didn't know where they were plus they adapted better to the work load
and gizmo slaves were sold by the protegees not the dutch lol

African Natives were sold to the Dutch by rival African Tribesmen who would capture their brethren for profit. This is how the Dutch Slave Trade began which found it's way to America.
Some Native Americans were taken captive by the White man, primarily Women and Children because few Braves would surrender in Battle and would be killed rather than taken captive.
However much like the people of Africa, Native American Tribes frequently would help the White Man to overtake an enemy tribe.

Native People were enslaved. They were slaves long before Africans were brought here and they continued to be slaves right along side them. Native people were brought from North American and sold into slavery in the Caribbean and all over Europe.
This site is about the chronology of US Slavery: http://www.innercity.org/holt/slavechron.html
Hope that helps.

Natives were enslaved.
They were forced into the front lines of war(which was certain death).
The young Native girls and women were sent to europe to be enslaved by royal families. (this is actually where the term "_____ princess/ example: Cherokee princess" came from. the native girls had to be "sworn" as princesses before able to enter any royal home)
Google, do not rely on one single site, there are many many sites that are very informational on this subject.
