Ok. This might sound weird, but I would really like to control my dreams. They say that dreams happen because of stray thoughts in your mind. I am obsessed over Phantom of the Opera...I think about it every day and I have NEVER dreamed about it, that I can remember, in 15 years! I want to remember those dreams!

TAKES PRACTICE BUT IT CAN BE DONE.. HUMAN BEINGS USE ONLY LESS THAN 8% OF THEIR BRAIN CAPACITY.

Your dream is the bridge between your conscious, subconscious and unconscious self (Heck!!! many technical terms!!) but we'll put it this way.. you dream because your brain memory feels they do not want some of it anymore.... for example... what happened to you last jan.5,2005??? you cant remember it anymore... right??? because there is no big significant event happened to you and your brain memory eraed it all.... but i can say... you cant control your dreams... unless if it is true that you really "are obssessed" by Phantom of Opera.... you will dream about it..... because your unconscious mind say you are.....

I watched this thing on TV, and if you write something at night before you go to sleep, for you its something to do with the phantom of the opera, and then you'll dream about it then in the morning you gotta like keep your brain going so you write about what was in your dream... if you remember. I had to try so I wrote about music, and I sang in my sleep *blush* well so my bf at the time said so

It's called "lucid dreaming"...I am a born natural, but there are internet sites that tell you how to do it.

when you think about something too much, it rarely shows up in dreams....try taking the character out of context and put him in the front seat of your car? right before you go to bed, and see if character makes an appearance?

If you lay in bed and REALLY concentrate on something you'd like to dream about, there's a possibility that you may just dream about it. There's a name for this, just can't think of it. I saw a program on TV about it a long time ago.

well a Freudian response would be that you are not actively seeing within your daily life. Freud mentioned in one of his books that dreams are connected to what we observe, that all the items with a dream cane be linked with what we have seen or saw. permanence of vision can fall within this concept, so i suggest that you watch the film and include it within your daily life then think about it passively. it is these passive thoughts that our mind enjoys to sift through. in that sense then you can kind of control the content of your dreams or at least limit it to that, just don't stress dreaming about it because that is well you know.

There are books describing how to control your dreams. It works, but it takes a lot of effort.

Yes, you sure can do. It takes a lot of concentration and you have to think about what you wish to dream right before you go to sleep.

Interesting question.
I have tried doing that a lot my thinking about something until I fall asleep and seeing if I dream about it.
IT WORKED ONCE!
Out of a period of about a month, so it may have been luck.
This "brian training" would be cool though!

sure you can! its called 'lucid dreaming' and on some level- weve all had a 'lucid' dream before. to explain;
say you are dreaming that you are on your way to work (at your real job in the local grocery store.) lets say you arrive at work, but youre not in a grocery store, youre in a pet store. In your dream you think to yourself- "hu? i work in a grocery store, not a pet store!"
THAT is lucid dreaming- when you realise you are actually dreaming while you are dreaming- when that happens, just 'think' yourself into whatever dream you like. takes practice, but good luck :)

Yes you can. It is called Lucid Dreaming! It is something that has to be seriously practiced and studied for some. And, to others, it is easy. Depends on their imagination, cognitive focus, and will.

Dang she beat me to it!!!!
didn't see it til I posted mine..good work girl!
