though my acting style is more towards the movie/television genre vs those who act in plays in which the tone is different. Does anybody have any tips to help my stage presence or good reasons why I am never picked?

yes - may be you are not as good as you think you are. (This does not mean I don't think you can act, just that may be you are not as good an actress as you think you are)

Keep on working at it. Even the best of them started somewhere and never give up and never stop learning or trying to improve.

Keep trying. Try to get some instruction, either an acting class or acting coach.

It's hard to give any suggestions without seeing you act, but you might try lots of different styles. Acting is a skill, and you would be surprised how much training most successful actors have had!

The most important thing is to not give up. A lot of times a director has something particular in mind. Sooner or later, it may be you! Sometimes they remember you for a different role later. Always try to be relaxed and not too full of yourself when you go in. You want to show confidence, but be careful it doesn't come across as arrogance.

all of those other suggestions were good id like to add something to remember there is no such thing as a small part.
i was in a play once where i was a male extra in 1 scene and the very next scene i was a female court recorder ( to kill a mocking bird) even tho i did not have a lead part i had the best character story of any in the cast.

I was amazed that a young actress went out and acquired 19th century clothing to try out for a part. It gave her confidence and the producers liked her spirit...she got the part! If you have an unusual skill you could interest Late Show people in...they might fly you out to be on the show. You might get experience bt uploading videos that you produce like lonelygirl15 did for YouTube. She in actuality was a young actress not a high school girl...but she got NOTICED!

Directors often have a "type" in mind when they cast a producion. You may not be the "type" they they want for the role. it may not be your acting. Hang in there - keep auditioning.

Keep auditioning, if you still are getting cast, consider taking some advanced acting classes.

Good luck.
