The Twenties had a wide variety of musical styles. Radio stations were starting to appear all over the US exposing people to many new kinds of music. Early jazz, ragtime, Dixieland, folk music, early country, gospel, and classical were probably the most prevalent genres. Big Band and Swing, which didn't really develop until the 1930's, were a kind of evolutionary step intermingling some of these earlier styles.

Well in most history books the twenties is described as the jazz age, it is made famous in the Great Gatsby.

Big Band and swing really didn't kick in until the 30s and 40s

it was either called ragtime or swing was really poplar at that time
