I'm with Dodgeman on this. On most GM vehicles the Oil Pressure Sending Unit (sometimes called the Pressure Switch) also has a fuel cutoff built into it. If the oil pressure reading drops below a certain threshold the switch will cut off the fuel pump. There may be other issues too because the switch does not explain the apparent misfire, but this is what is probably causing the engine to cut out.

It could be a gasket..
If the oil pressure is low and it smokes.. it could possibly mean that you are leaking oil on to the engine and it is burning off. That's why you see the smoke.
The alternator is what supplies the engine power..aside from the gas and the battery. If your alternator is bad your Blazer will only use the battery for small things like getting you a mile or start up..The alternator charges the battery. You will know if your alternator goes. It stops dead.....The air filter and the fuel pump are the least of your problems if you are having those problems.
Oil
Head Gaskets
Alternator
Check all that and see if there are obvious things wrong.
Take it in....

I hate to answer this, this way, but I am going with ' dodge man'
the oil pressure switch is causing all the problems,
but if you just replace it, and not clean out everything like 'dodge man' said you will have the problem come back, so I would first drop the oil pan and clean it all out and maybe ask your parts man what you can spray up in the oil pump screen to clean the junk out of it, and use a FULL synthetic oil like Castrol or Royal Purple or Mobil 1,of a higher grade, I used to use 20/50 year round up in H.H. in my truck because of high mileage, so clean the oil pan first, and see how it runs ..it may take a little while to get back to normal...and it also could be the fuel filter...but do the least expensive stuff first and maybe you can do the oil pan yourself..you may need to bring it to a shop to reset any CODES that may have been set...also go to your local library and look at their reference books...
good luck

Sounds like 2 things. 1) fuel filter and 2) timing is off. It is normal for the oil pressure to fluctuate like that.

low oil pressure indicates bearing wear on the internal engine bearings (connecting rods, main bearings, and camshaft). The only way to fix the problem is with a complete engine overhaul. The smoking also indicates ring and piston wear.

i own a repair shop, and whats happening to it the oil sending unit is going out on it,,this also has a switch built in to it,,to try and shut the vehicle off if the oil pressure gets low on it,,and that's what its doing,,trying to die out on you ,also on some of these i have had to remove the oil pan and clean it and the oil pump out on them,,they get clogged up from old sludge from the engine,,this too will also cause the oil pressure to drop on it,,and when it drops,,it tries to die out i have seen this happen a dozen times or more especially the ones with the 4.3. in them, but id bet this is whats causing yours to do this also,, i own a 95 model truck with a 4.3 in it,,it to has already done this,,good luck with it,i hope this help,s.,,have a good x-mas.
