Your employer is required by law to carry liability insurance especially when working at an airport where Federal laws are applicable. Probation or not, notify your manager for proper handling of this issue. Let management do the talking to her attorney, not you.
(ps I wouldn't worry about this too much)

She can NOT sue you for this. She must have some kind of really hack lawyers, because she can not sue you while you were doing a job for the company. The only way she can sue you is if you committed a tort, which you did not. Furthermore, it would be in her best interest to go after the airport, since they have more money. However, it sounds like nothing at all has been done wrong.

They only way she could sue you directly is if what you did deviated from the job you were supposed to be performing, which by any stretch of imagination, does not sound like what you did.

Something sounds really fishy about this, let your employer know immediately, because if something was done that can be litigated, then they would be the ones on the line. I would not be surprised if whoever contacted you was not actually a lawyer, because if it really was, they would be the worst lawyers ever. Furthermore, you can not sue someone for being embarrassed.

All around, this entire episode sounds strange. I would tell them to go to hell, and I will see you in court. Because you have done nothing wrong, they are just fishing for money and they are going after the wrong person unless you make more money than the airport.

of course she can file for a suit, weather or not the case has any merit ( i doubt it ) is fir a judge to decide, you can always countersue ( it was wise of her attorney to inform you to get legal council ), for emotional distress or some other BS trumped up symptom, it's done all the time as a means to see if the other side will back down in a suit. As for other side calling you, until they have filed paperwork in court, it's just a threat. Most suits never make it to court in hopes of a quick settlement, if she is stupid enough to take it all the way to court, the costs ( she will bear these as no decent lawyer would take such a case on a contingency case as she probaly has no money and he probaly knows you have no money ) and time make most such case financially prohibitive in all reality. If anything I am surprised the lawyer would not drag in your employer and go for the bigger money ( insurance aspect as well ) and name them as well as is typically done
btw she cannot expect to enjoy the same sense of privacy of the vibrator in her home as in a public ( the airport ) place, hence why there is a good chance it will never be allowed in court and will be dismissed

Dude it sounds like you are sandbagging, that happened at Years ago at Tampa, The suing lawyers don't tell you to get a Lawyer. They just send you a subpoena. If it actually is real chances you will be named and sued for a million dollars because violating her privacy was very wrong

How did the law firm find out your name and phone number?

If this is for real, and your actions were in accordance with your training, you have nothing whatsoever to worry about. Make sure your supervisor knows about the incident, and make sure your co-worker knows you are going to need his recollection of events. Again, if you were simply doing your job, there is nothing for you to worry about.

Since you are in training, and you was doing your job, as trained to do, I am pretty sure that your employer will take care of this, you need to go to your maniger asap and let them know what is going on. good luck

Can you tell the woman that you didn't mean to embarrass her and that you were only doing your job? That you didn't know what the device was and had no intention of embarrassing her at all and that you apologize for it?

I think customs is at fault for not having private search areas.
