I want to name my son River. Not after River Pheonix, I just have always really liked the name. Is it too hippie-ish? I really don't want the kid to be made fun of but I think it's SUCH a cool name. What do you think?

I know this family that named their kids River, Wind, Lightning and Rain. To this day the kids are teased beyond belief. Yes it is a bit on the hippy side.

I think it's too hippy-ish. With kids now-a-days, they'd try and ride him for it. Not a bad name, just think it's not the best choice.

using it as a middle name may help... you would still get the name you wanted and the kid wouldn't get picked on, get more of a name but alittle more uniquebut not like mountain or a fruit because thats a little more weird than unique...hope that helped

lol...i think its a cute idea. But realistically it wont work...name the kid SHELBY it goes both ways and you can teach your kid to make that name into something cool among the grade school kids. ITS A COOL SPORTS CAR FOR HEAVENS SAKE!
