why is Tesco plc leading?

At last count £1 in every eight was spent at Tescos in the UK. They have achieved this through....

- lying to thier customers
- exploiting workers in underdeveloped countries
- being friends with Tony Blair and Rupert Murdoch
- lying to their employees
- putting local shops out of business
- promoting the use of the car
- building hideous stores on people's homes
- the stupidity of the nation
- the legacy left by Thatcher that we should suck up to big business and not give a f££k about anyone else.

Have you ever been to France? Go down any street, and the fish shop sells only fish, caught and chosen locally by an expert, who runs the shop, same for cheese, meat, bread, confectionery, and pretty much everything else.

I think because they have gone bravely in to new markets before any of the competition.

For example.. insurance - home and motor.

And taken risks by making forays in to new markets. ASDA and the other dirtmongers can whine all they want.. but ASDAs owned by Walmart, the hugely wealthy US chain, and still they can't peg back the innovative Tesco.

ASDA deserves what it gets due to its "common" television commecials aimed solely at "working class" customers - unlike Tesco's "everyone and anyone" approach.

True story - My Grandad was tesco's first employee.
He used to push the barrow for Cohen when he worked the markets in London.
Old Cohen fired him and took on the cheapest workers he could find to make more profit, then taking his wife's name (tess) he created the beast that is Tess,Cohen (Tesco).
The drive behind Tesco is to shaft anybody that's going to cost you a penny more profit than you have to spend!!
