I had rigged my character in 3ds max 7, but the IK handles do not move with my bones - they stretch. What am I doing wrong?

Also, is there a way to modify a mesh after skinning a character? Whenever I try this, all the skinning I had done disappears.

Any help is greatly welcomed.

as to your first question, make certain you are not in bone edit mode.

second question, yes, but you have to create a separate mesh the you enclose around the first in the end. autodesk's site has a tutorial on this.
