in the 1950s what was the name of the department store that had a monorail go around the store during christmas time?? and what year did they stop doing it?

There never was a monorail in a dept store in Chicago. Marshall Field's would have been the only store that you might be talking about. Or Carson Pierre Scott....both on State Street. State Street did have a streetcar down the middle of it. Is that what you are thinking of?

There WAS a monorail. I have been looking for it also...for about 50 yrs!

I rode on it with my grandmother who died in 1958. I have always thought it was The Fair Store on State St. I have searched Google and my contemporaries with no luck.

My other thought was Mandel Brothers. It was in that area of the street in the mid-1950s.

i was around chicago and remember no monorail..marshal fields was always the premier spot on state st,
