Jon Arbuckle was born on July 28, 1951, making him 55 as of 2006. However, he seems to be perpetually 29 years old in the strips so lets go with that. Jim Davis, the creator and writer of Garfield, is himself exactly 4 years younger than Jon, born on July 28, 1945.

Garfield was born in 1978 so I would assume that Jon is pushing 40.

I would guess Jon is in his early 30's because so of his clothes remind me of what a geek would have thought was dressy in the 70's
