The man with the $100 million arm is eager to add to the Red Sox rich pitching history. The club said Thursday that Daisuke Matsuzaka has agreed to a six-year contract that will lead him to the same Fenway Park mound once commanded by Roger Clemens and Pedro Martinez. The deal for Boston's latest high-profile right-hander is worth a guaranteed minimum of $52 million

A lot of them did. Gil Meche: 5 years, 55 million, Ted Lilly 4 years: $40 million, Vernon Wells: 7 years, 126 million, Jason Schmidt 3 years, 47 million. All of these players would not be underpaid if their salaries dropped by 5 million a year each.

Vernon wells didn't get a deal done, he's been offered an extension, which i'll be surprized if he accepts without testing free agency first.having said that every free agent who signed so far has gotten a deal much better than their actual worth. its an overinflated market for talent that for the most part is marginal.

Ted Lilly and Gil Meche. They each are getting paid more than Johan Santana. This is why baseball is headed down the tubes again. Which is sad.

Everybody who can throw a baseball apparently. Actual talent seems to be little regarded.
