also the previuse owner put a clutch out of a 98 model. does anyone know if they are the same number of clutch plates and is the basket the same?

If the '98 clutch parts work, then I can't see a problem. As for a cheap clutch, they aren't that expensive, and a bike putting that much power through the drive train probably needs decent quality clutch plates. Spend the money and enjoy it!

Sorry old chap, but I dont think a fireblade will cope very well with a 'cheap' clutch. I know you mean a good clutch at a low price, but dont go buying cr@p for this kind of bike.

I have restored and sold 5 cycles as a hobby, and I deal with BikeBandit.com, they are not discount, but are a reliable source who accept returns and their parts catalogue page directs you to the exact parts you need: no problem sorting out whether a part from a different year will work- if the part numbers match, you are OK.
