my friend says he's emo whenever i ask him but he denies it when anyone else asks he cuts his wrist listens to weird music and has really big hair covering his face i just call him goth he gets really pissed of at me i only call him goth because i don't know what emo is can anyone tell me what an emo is?

Genre of softcore punk music that integrates unenthusiastic melodramatic 17 year olds who dont smile, high pitched overwrought lyrics and inaudible guitar rifts with tight wool sweaters, tighter jeans, itchy scarfs (even in the summer), ripped chucks with favorite bands signature, black square rimmed glasses, and ebony greasy unwashed hair that is required to cover at least 3/5 ths of the face at an angle.

Emo is short ofr emotional....it's generally a fairly negative description but not as much so as gothic or something. It's a certain type of music and way of dressing etc...people who display what they are feeling all the time, its hard to describe but it is short for emotional.

emos are just like goths except a little more dramtic they like poetry and are always depressed, the main difference between "emos" and "goths" are that emos cut their wrists and enjoy it
