It will not have any effect on the fetus. However, normally, after term (40 weeks gestation) the placenta starts to degenerate and that is why we normally induce women after 42 weeks. If you already have a mature placenta by 35 weeks, your doctor is worried that it will start to degernerate earlier, so your doctor wants to deliver you by the time you are term, so as to avoid the possibility of problems as the placenta continues to age. It is not a serious problem, but you should have weekly NSTs (non stress tests) and if there is any indication that there is a problem, you should be delivered. Don't worry. Your doctor knows what to do.

It means placenta is aging faster than normal and it needs to be closely watched because the placenta does stop working after 42 wks but aging placentas stop working sooner

Not entirely sure, but I was induced 2 days before my due date as the U/S tech said I did not have enough amniotic fluid for the baby which could be a sign of an aging placenta. It was described as a placenta that may no longer be functioning as fully as it should and they need to monitor the "environment" to ensure the baby is getting sufficient nutrients etc. etc. If they are in doubt, they may well induce you. Nothing really to worry about!! Get lots of rest and drink plenty of fluids to ensure levels of amniotic fluid kept high.

What this means is that your placenta is reaching the end of its useful life. Most women's placenta will start to mature through the pregnancy and then start to deteriorate at around 40-42 weeks. It sounds like yours is starting to mature and age a little earlier than usual.

It means your placenta has reached it's maturity and now is becoming less functional for your baby. This usually only happens after 40 weeks. Are you over 35 maybe or have other health risks?

It means that there is some calcification of the placenta that showed up on the ultrasound.

The placenta provides nutrients to your baby, if too much is damaged your baby will not get enough nutrients/oxygen. Then your baby will be better off out than in.

Don't worry, they will monitor your baby carefully and your baby will be fine. And in most cases about 50% of the placenta would have to become damaged to hurt your baby.

It means its not working as well as it should be. They will tse each week and if its getting really bad they may either induce your labour or give u a c section.
