Each party nominates a candidate through primary elections and public opinion polls. The chosen candidates are then placed on the ballot for a vote by the people. After which they must be confirmed by the Electoral College. Each state depending on population has x amount of votes in the College. Usually the person with the majority votes is chosen by the college and is the next president.

What do you mean by chosen? The President is elected by the people every 4 years.

Why is the bit from Monty Python's Holy Grail coming to mind with this question? You know the bit about the Lady in the Lake picking the King. " A watery tart waving a sword around is no basis for government"
*sigh* I hope this is not a serious question. If it is, it may well explain why getting people to VOTE is such a challenge.
The President is "chosen" in a little thing called an election. The next one ( for President) is in 2008.

The president is chosen by electors, who are in turn elected by the people in the states they serve. The president is not actually elected by the people, he is elected by the states. He presides over the states, not the American people.
The number of electors for each state is proportional to the states population, plus two additional for each state. This is the number of electors equal the number of Representatives in the House of Representative, plus the two Senators that each state has. This give a slight advantage to the states with smaller populations. If it were strictly by population, the few states with the greatest populations like California, New York, Illinois and a few others would control the election. Politicians would even bother campaigning in the small states.

The president is elected first by running a campaign and giving numerous speeches on what he will do for AMERICA and everyone is brainwashed into voting for him. As soon as he is elected , he comes up with a plan to bomb an innocent country and send our troops overseas when they should be here cleaning up our streets (criminals, drugs, weapons etc).
