What is the difference between democrat and republican? I asked my mom but she is not sure.

Republicans believe in personal responsibility. Democrats believe that the government should right all wrongs. This manifests itself in many areas.

A most basic difference between a republican and democrat is that a democrat wants more government control in the lives of the people and a republican wants less. There are many differences, but I think that serves as a good basic definition.

There really isn't any. The Republicans claim to be t he party of small government, low taxes and relief from government interference. The Democrats claim to be for the little guy. They say the Republican Party is for the rich.
But no matter who gets elected, we continue to get more and more government, less freedom. We continue to get bogged down in foreign wars, that are never declared by congress, and so we never win them.
What we need is a choice. The Democrats/Republicans are both the same.

Republicans actually have an ideology and enough conviction to follow through on it. Democrats ideology is be against everything Republicans stand for, nothing else

Democrats are very liberal (free) about the contstitution and Republicans are very strict. That is basically it.
