OMG! Have u been living under a rock? of course anime is better, it have every genre in them, such as action, romance, comedy, horror, mystery, but american cartoons just have comedy and are for little kids, while anime is for any age!

Artwork-wise the newer anime is better, but the American cartoons are getting really good as well. As for quality, both are kind of lacking, America has a habit of one person making something, it doing well, and everyone else making the same thing. Japan does it, and it works for them, probably because kids don't have ADD and aren;t constantly looking for the next best thing. Look how popular Pokemon is over there still, and how quickly it dropped off here, and the sheer popularity allowed for many spinoffs that did well in Japan and horrible here. I go Japanese, just because they are better at drawing people in; most of the American cartoons are standalone and they don't have much in the way of stories, whereas very few anime have no plot, they have a story that you can get into. Still, soem cartoons are starting to bring characters back in new episodes and if you missed the one they were in previously, you might be lost, so it can really go both ways, but I still got the vote for anime

I do believe that Japanese cartoons (or anime) are better compared to the American cartoons. Their genres have different varieties and catches more attention of people from all age range. Even some of the American cartoons were inspired by the Japanese animation.

Some gems of American cartoons used to be made - classic Disney movies for example - but nowadays I THINK the quality is declining. I can't really say because I don't watch US cartoons so much anymore. But I've seen the other shows like that Floo thing on Nick and the art looks really lame. Others like JLU are still pretty cool, but the ones for little kids have really gotten ugly.
Anime on the other hand...well, it keeps getting better and better. Both art and storyline. Since anime now has categorized cliche plots, more are trying to break out of the mold, and that's a good thing. A prime example is Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu - superb art and a twisted plot. (Literally). For now I say that anime wins, hands down.

i would say anime, because the art seems of better quality to me and i think that the japanese people are wayyyy better at coming up with original story lines. here we have, the simpsons, family guy, spongebob. Who the heck in their right mind would watch spongebob, that show is so stupid! ok, i guess i will cut america some slack, because they have come up with some shows that are not totally stupid, but not many. With lots of the japanese genres, everything is different, or at least a lot of things. I just really appreciate it because the animators seem to care more about the quality of their art and the story lines are so much more interesting than people constantly making cracks about sex or people's race. but that's just my opinion

Japanese anime. Has a broader range for an audience, has (in my opinon) better drawings and voices (jap). Also, the storyline is more submersive than american cartoons. And of course, there's blood and fighting and all that good stuff. XD I also find it more humorous.

it depends on your favorites.
i prefer japanese anime to american cartoon, because picture, and the storyline shows an attraction and art.
in my opinion,... if you like action movie with a straight forward storyline, american cartoon is better.
but if you like a movie with beautiful, cute characters, japanese anime is your choice

depends... for slapstick comedies and such i think that america still has the upper hand (of course... japan's shinchan remains unbeatable).
but i'm still leaning towards japanese anime, since they're of a wider variety and can really pull off drama, angst, comedy, action, mystery and everything else rolled into one.
that's not to say america hasn't got anything. the disney classics were... well, classic.
