Tony Hillerman's team of Jim Chee and Joe Leaphorn. Maybe it is the differences in their approaches to solving crimes, maybe it is the cultural details that Hillerman works hard at conveying, maybe Hillerman is just a hell of a storyteller. If you aren't familiar with the two fictional Navjo Tribal Policemen, then maybe it is time to give them a try.
