I don't think he is the best in baseball. He is just the most highly paid superstar in baseball. He gets like 25 million a year for a 10 year deal with the Yankees costing 252 million dollars. The best in baseball would have to be good at fielding, baserunning, AND power hitting. Alex Rodriguez is a GREAT power hitter and he is probably going to reach 700 career HR's before the end of his career. His baserunning skills are OK, and his speed and acceleration are OK. It is just the fielding that he needs work on. ARod was way better when he was a shortstop and he was one of the best all-time shortstops. But the Yankees have Jeter, and they put ARod at third. Bad decision! ARod had a record alright this year for the Yankees. A record for the most errors. Like 25 errors or something, is unbelieveable! So, in my opinion, ARod is not the greatest superstar in baseball. If I may, I'd say Ichiro is the best at baserunning and fielding and Pujols is the best at power hitting. If only there was a man put together mixed from Ichiro and Pujols.

No, he played horrible defense and that may cause him the title of best in baseball. It might be either Andruw Jones or Albert Pujols because of their offense and defense.

He is not even the best player on the Yankees or in NY. He should have stayed in Seattle.

Not right now. He's still one of the better hitters but his inability to hit in the clutch has hurt his reputation. He can still be considered the best third basemen though.
