Does it really matter?

When you mean white. Do you mean the average ammount of White people in America? Well the answer is simple. It's because anime is basically everywhere in america. Back in the mid to late 80's, there were only little ammounts of Japanese anime to ever hit here. Only movies such as Akira and Vampire Hunter D were dubbed and released here limitedly back then. And the only show to watch in the US was Speed Racer. But with other animes slowly developing a fanship such as Dragonball Z and Sailor Moon. Other animes started to make their way here slowly. And right now, a good number of TV stations have anime. It's not that hard to obtain anime via the internet no more. There's even an Anime Network but its in limited states. I believe that this is the reason why whites (as well as every other race in america) are watching more anime. Because there is alot more of it showing up in either dub form or fansubbed form. And i think of this due to my observance as a anime fan for almost 10 years.

But now if youre talking about whites in another country like the UK. Well then, cant really explain anything on that.

In my opinion, it is because Japanese animes have interesting plot lines and characters. They also have better drawings (for me). Their characters have really unique personalities. And always, there is a theme in which the story follows through. It also has different genres that suits different people with different ages. The show of emotions in the characters were done in a very unique way, especially the exaggerated ones. Anime also featured wide varieties of artistic styles. An anime could also have contents from different type of genres and their plot line can vary form a surface plot to a deeper and more complex plot. An anime has a common genre of humor and action on it. And most of the animes were not repetitious and predictable.

Okay.... have u been living in a hole or under a rock or in a cave for the past years? people have been watching a lot of anime, whites, blacks, asians, eurpeans, everyone has been watching it, cause its good. its so much better than the crap on tv. it actually has a plot and is interesting, they have nice storylines and action with romance and comedy. they have a little of everything mixed in, which makes it awsome. Also japanese films are better, they are more accepting and dont care what some people think, so many things can apear in animes. They are for everyone, anyone can find something they like in an anime, some people like some of your answerers just dont want to watch it to try it out and miss somehtng wonderful. dont judge a book by its cover, just because its animated, doesnt mean its for little kids, u must try everthing, anime can be as bloddy as american films for men, and as sappy as the notebook for women. and it can be just plain hilarious, just go to youtube and watch some, they're amazing.

There cartoons are really good, like Dragon Ball z and Inuyasha. But i think a lot of guys watch for the big breasted girls running around. The anime characters are colorful, unique looking, a lot have the same personality. The bratty chick, the rough chick, the innocent chick, the quiet guy with power, the arrogant guy with power, etc. Even the games are pretty good with story lines you rarely hear of.

Why do alot of Japanese ppl watch movies from Hollywood?

I doubt the numbers are significantly different from previous recent times. Anime has always had a following, it just takes some people a while to notice. Of course, as with many things, certain pieces of a particular genre may become popular making the genre itself more popular.

I don't watch anime... but maybe for the culture? interesting question though. I have a friend that watches anime to learn Japanese words or whatever. My history teacher in jr. high used this one particular anime show to guide our understanding of the principles of the japanese culture..yeah ;)

There is a wider variety of themes and shows to watch from over there, just look at the American cartoons.
The only American Cartoons that I watch are Family Guy, Futurama, and Aqua Teen Hunger Force.
