Depends on the door. If it opens inward the weatherstripping normally goes on the outside. If the door opens outward the weatherstripping is on the inside. Make sure the threshold is also in good order under the door. A good storm door will also cut down on heat loss and air infiltration. If the door is a solid wood door condider replacing it with a good steel door that is insulated. Make sure any glass is double glazed also.

RE:
Does door weather-stripping go on the inside or the outside of the door?
This is a wooden exterior door that doesn't fit very well, so we are losing a lot of heat.

There are several different kinds of weather-stripping. Some can go on the inside. Some you can nail on the outside. It is best to get the kind that nails to the inner part of the jamb.
Best option is to buy a new door.

either way,but usually on the outside because of wind, rain pushing against the weather stripping helps seal.i like the aluminum in a pack of three, left, right, and top that has a rubber seal.close door and install top piece and cut if needed, and install the sides, they come with tiny nails that work great.i have never been called back because this did not work.you buy this product at Lowe's or the home depot in the hardware department.

Depends on if the door opnes in or out. Weatherstripping goes on the other side of where the door goes. Door inswing, mount outside. outswing, mount inside.

it depends, if your door swings out you might try installing the weatherstripping inside.
