If you did not watch the movie yet....I would encourage you to do so. It is still my all time favorite movie! (and I used to work at a Cinemark Theater!!) But on to your question......
The main character John Dunbar goes to see the frontier before it is taken over by all the settlers (white people...if your politically correct) Near the end,it shows how the Native Americans practically got evicted off of the land they had been living on.
When Kicking Bird asked John Dunbar (now renamed "Dances with Wolves") the question "How many are coming?" (In reference to the settlers) John Dunbar said "Many..like the stars"
Later....When it was just the Indian Chief Ten Bears and Dances with Wolves speaking alone.....Ten Bears said "I believe you are correct.....and I am afraid we are not ready this time."...(He was looking at an old Artifact he had got from one of is past relatives as he said this) If the events in the movie had been real.....you could say his words were prophetic!!
I hope that answers your question......There is much more you could learn from this movie than what I have just wrote here!!
Good Luck on the History Assignment!!

Dances with wolves was just that a movie. It wasn't true, so the events aren't.I'm not sure where you got your info. If you want a true history project watch Band of brothers, or Tombstone, or Wyatt Earp. Oh another good movie that is true -Something the lord made. It's not religious in anyway. it's about a medical breakthrough

Well...you should make some kind of pamphlet or brocheure...Like the title can be "Dances with Wolves" ...etc....and you can have some of the pages as the information on the movie for a better idea, on anorther page [or 2] answer all your questions that your teacher asks you for this project, and for the extra pages write some links or something that can give more info on the movie.... :]
Oh don't forget PICTURES...teachers like pictures as a visual aide....like draw one, or more...or print one....[if you print...print more than one, your teachers will like that]
