Last night I felt a little dizzy, but I was ok. Today I was at school and around 11 I got a headache. That's normal, I get menstual headaches alot. Then around 1 or so I got a minor nausea feeling. By 2:30 I went out of class to the restroom... I had horrible menstrual cramping and I felt sick. I started getting dizzy a bit. I came home took medicine and went to sleep. I'm now up but my throat hurts really bad. I took my tampon out and I feel a bit better. I've had a time like this about a year ago. Exams are tommrow, I can't miss school, and I hate wearing pads. I don't want to worry my mom because she is scared to death of TSS... I don't know what to do. I feel better except with my throat. We have viruses going around school... HELP!

Even if you hate wearing pads you should do it tomorrow since it may make you feel better, and help you to focus on your exams

Get to a doctor asap! It could be anything. You might have a cold or just bad cramps. My best friend had TSS and ended up being rushed to the ER. She had a bad headache that whole day, and couldn't figure out what was wrong. By the end of the day she was in so much pain and so light-headed she fell down on the floor and could not move. Luckily her son was home with her. If you really think this is what you have, don't take it lightly..it is potentially fatal. You can make up an exam but you can't get your life back.... True it is very rare but it still occurs...Do a search on TSS and you can find out ways to help prevent it.

TSS was linked to tampons in the 70's. Since then they have altered the fibers they are made of and SERIOUSLY reduced the risk of TSS. It is very rare. It sounds to me like you are having bad cramps...It sucks, but generally not dangerous. It's pretty common to get cramps that turn your stomach. However they could be a symptom of endometriosis. If they are this bad every month you should visit a gynecologist to make sure everything is OK. Until then I wouldn't worry. You sound like an informed girl and I'm sure you change your tampon regularly. Rest easy.

TSS will have a rash and feaver the rash is like sunburn. Call your doctor tomorrow in the morning and ask to speak with the nurse, they will suggest that you come in, you could go and have your mom wait in the waiting room, say you just want to go by yourself and assure her your okay. TSS usually always has the rash and fever. You do have to be careful of TSS, take some asprin and get a good night of rest, hopefully you will feel better in the morning for your test.

I had TSS when I was 13 from Tampons and trust me when you have it - you leave in an ambulance. It sounds more like you might have the flu.

Don't wear tampons! Stick to pads and see a doctor as soon as you can. I understand that you don't want to worry your mother but keeping quiet about this can be dangerous.

I don't think its TSS but you should speak to your mom. It'll be worse for her (her worrying) if you do get REALLY REALLY sick. It's best to talk to your mom.

I seriously doubt you have TSS
