Haha...she's 16 months. She can walk, and it's natural for her to explore. Watch her. Put the breakable ornaments at the top of the tree and the old plastic ones at the bottom. Use the electrical coverings for the outlets so she doesn't get shocked.

If the tree is in another room, you can put up a babygate. Other than that, it's Christmas! Let her play and just WATCH her.

I definately agree w/ others to make sure that you put the breakable ornaments at the top of the tree, as well as sentimental ornaments. We have a 16 month old daughter, & we positioned our furniture so that three sides of the tree are blocked. ( Tree is beside a wall, with couch on other side) We then arranged it so that our larger gifts are in front of the tree to keep her from immediately getting to it. Unfortunatley, if you can't keep her out of the same room as the tree, you have to try to keep her attention elsewhere. We have animated toys that she is allowed to play with within reach, & just have to continually remind her that the tree is a "no-no."

Hey Miss Grinch buy plastic ornaments for the lower part of the tree and real nice ones for the top part that baby sister can't reach and let her enjoy Christmas too. That's what my mom did with all ten of her kids and that's what I did with all eight of mine and that's what my kids are doing with all sixteen of my grands. Nicer ornaments on top cheaper unbreakable ones on the bottom and everyone's happy especially baby. Merry Christmas.

Start by removing the ones that are breakable (glass, and anything fragile) -- then get some Christmas Fabric from the store (and poly stuffing, plus some yarn), and have your mother help you to SEW some general "shapes" (Like snowmen, Christmas Trees, Wreaths, etc) ...

As long as they are stuffed, sewn closed securely, and have a very tiny loop to help them sit on the lowest branches of the Christmas Tree, then the little one can play with these!

We'd barricade the tree whenever we had kids visiting. Put stools or anything else difficult for a child to crawl under or climb over. Though it is better if someone remains with the baby throughout....its amazing what trouble kids can get into.

in case you shelter the tree quickly to allow him play with it some in a way he will locate boring, he probable received't come lower back to it. it truly is an same way with canine [Sorry, it truly is authentic] in the adventure that they see you keep attempting to keep them faraway from something, it truly is what they're going to concentration on the most. coach them that the article [or tree to that end] isn't something of pastime, and they received't problem it. you are able to also completely shelter it some way, or submit a touch one fence.
