Is the air in a basement bad for your health? If so what problems does it cause to your health and can you buy a device which will make the air good for you?

Get a dehumidifier. It will suck all that moisture out of the basement. I had to empty mine at least twice a day. Damp basements causes mold which can be harmful when you breath it in even for a short period of time. It also can cause damage to your basement walls and very difficult to remove, even with bleach and water. Mold is a growing organism with a very long root (does not just grow on the surface). In most cases the mouldy wall has to be removed and a new one put in, can be very expensive. Much cheaper in the long run to get a dehumidifier.

If the basement is unfinished and not sealed properly, the air can be bad for you because it would be prone to mold and mildew. But if it is sealed and finished, it's no worse than anywhere else in the house.

if the basement is unfinished and the air is stale and musky, probably unhealthy.(allergies, mold spores, etc.) If it is cleaned up and used for living space... circulating air should be ok.

Be Blessed!
