external - outside -- as in your skin is on the external portion of your body.

internal - inside - as in your liver is on the internal portion of your body.

external means you have a problem on the outside internal means you have a problem on the inside

ex: external hardrive is outside your comp, internal is inside

Generally they mean outside and inside respectively. I don't know what you mean by what are those problems.
