You don't have to limit yourself to psychological theories. I personally don't know of a contrast to Murphy's Law.

Taoism is the belief that the universe (reality) exists in balance. Yin and yang exist because of each other. Good and bad exist because of each other. Male and female exist because of each other. Light and dark exist because of each other. Murphy's law does not exist in nature because it is unbalanced. If anything goes right or wrong it happens because of an imbalance of yin and yang. This also provides a method of understanding the forces of nature surrounding us. It provides a method of understanding without judgement; and an ability to direct the outcome of a situation, through its understanding. This is only one of a great many ways of looking at things, just as Murphy's law is one way of looking at life. I prefer Taoism to the negativity often espoused by others. Holy crap, this is the longest answer I have ever typed on Yahoo Answers; I hope it is not too esoteric for you.

I don't know how much more optimistic it is. But Darwinism, survival of the fittest in all life forms/species sets out first and foremost to disprove the theory of Murphy's Law.

Murphys law is not really a law of nature. Its a personal outlook on life. I say Murphy is entitled to his little opinion.
The idea of Karma, or cause and effect seems more reasonable tho. You get what you give, just makes sense.

Murphy's laws are here for safety, they are averages of absolute best scenarios of extremes to fallow, partial percentages at work for the scuba diver are perfect and dive tables for complexity are all safety oriented to make life easier, thank God for who ever Murphy wants to coerce
