the difference is definitely in the wrap more than in the filling. you can get tacos and burritos with all kinds of meat/fish/veggies in them, but a taco is usually two corn tortillas folded in half with filling inside and a burrito is a big flour tortilla that's wrapped around the filling. go for the tacos!

Well - it might depend on where you are getting your Mexican food. If your getting it from a place like Taco Bell - the only difference may be the size. However, in authentic Mexican food a soft taco is usually on a corn tortilla, with meat and salsa, and maybe cilantro, sometimes there will be sour cream - but that's about it. Besides the fact that burritos are American made, sort of an American version of a taco (but still very different) - burritos are larger, are in flour tortillas and include meat, beans, rice, salsa, sour cream, cheese, sometimes avocado - there is much more in a burrito and they are a lot bigger - tacos are more authentic and as such usually have less ingredients and are a lot smaller - they are very different dishes.

depends on what you order, you can get corn shells soft, or flour shells. A taco has either ground beef, or ground beef and beans, whereas a burrito should have roast beef in beans wrapped in a flour shell. In a true Mexican restaurant, the burrito comes with roast and potatoes wrapped in a flour tortilla. Ground hamburger in a floured shell is an enchilada.

As a Mexican who has been eating tacos and burritos all her life, I can tell you the difference the way my mom has always made them:

Taco - Usually a small corn tortilla lightly fried in oil (to get it in the right folded-in-half shape) and filled with ground beef, lettuce, tomatoes, grated cheese on top, and hot sauce (sometimes guacamole, sour cream).

Burrito - Large flour tortilla with beans, cheese, and various other ingredients with the sides folded over completely so no filling can get out. Some types of burritos are bean and cheese, veggie (usually with black beans), and wet burritos (with a red mole sauce poured on top). My favorite burrito is refried beans, cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, jalepenos, guac, and sour cream. Mmmmmmmmm!

It doesn't matter, they are both good...but tacos tend to have lettuce/tomato, where burritos have beans/meat/cheese, and it's wrapped around not in half like tacos

soft taco is small about 10" tortilla filled w/meat, lettuce, tomatoes and cheese and maybe salsa. folded in half and served "open". burrito is a larger, about 16" tortilla filled w/ meat, beans, rice, and maybe lots of other stuff such as sour cream, guacamole, salsa, pico de gallo, cilantro, etc. And, it's rolled so it's sealed shut and you cannot see the ingredients.

A burrito has beans and a taco has lettuce. And tacos are messier!
