You are quoting Proverbs 27:19 in the Bible, as it says, "As a face is reflected in water, so the heart reflects the person." What it's saying is that what you put into your heart defines what kind of character you have, and what kind of person you are. Example: As your mind/heart is focused on the Lord and the things of Christ, then what will flow out of your life will be good fruits or purity, grace, kindness, etc...

Let your yes be a yes and no be a no.Anything more than a yes or no answer or a statement more than yes or no is of the evil one. His name is called the spirit of confusion, That made up some words and introduced them from a child's birth on. These words are called Guile or Beguile. Words like could it be, Did he really say. Maybe, could be,possibly, sorta,I think i might have been. Thirs a good chance i may be able to fo out on Friday on and on these confusing words dance around in your head. Night and day,on and on. Their is only one way to stop them.Read Mathew 37:5 and follow it . But first w have to clear our soul of all these excess words that causes many enlargements. I have a book on the market that helps to understand where these beguiling words came from. The Book is called A simple yes a simple no. On Amazon. Author Hank De Groat. as a personal trainer, i use this to convey to people that they are:what ever they think they are, for some it helps for other it is a ploy that has been trampled in to the dust as they have no defined control over themselves they just gluttons and have their risks at stake and choose to do their own thing regardless of and consequences- this statement can be true or untrue depending on the personal awareness of: what Jesus ask? they know not what they do?, so here is the test that takes some people a life time and others couldn't see it any other way, sciences say, 63% are normal 14% are exceptional, and the rest led and fight every inch of the way

On the deepest level, this is a statement about substance, and shows the difference of substance between the "old man" and the "new man."
In the beginning, in darkness, one thinks he is material, and so he is. Through spiritual understanding, the "old man" is found to be a liar, and so then the "new man" thinks (knows) that he is spiritual, and so he is.

The intuition & emotions usually dominate the character formation... 'Heart' is the word for indicating this aspect of a being.. So, the character is shaped according to one's intuitional and emotional inclinations, the logical aspect being just supportive for implementation based on judgements of the situations.

Rich Mullins wrote a song called "Creed" and in it he had the lyric "I believe what I believe is what makes me what I am."

I think this Bible verse speaks of how a persons core beliefs or lack of them effects their character. A persons core beliefs will play the biggest role in their decision making under stressful situations or when they are faced with a moral dilemma.

You can't fake being a good person. You are only as good as your feelings and emotions.

I don't agree. I think that the will plays a much more important role. I may want to honk or flip off the man who cut me off in traffic, but if I exercise restraint aren't I a better person for it?

It's teaching, that's the real you. It's not what you put in it, it is what is in it. The old heart is a heart of stone which is at enmity with God. The new heart is a heart of flesh that is at peace and in fellowship with God.
