Diversity is the quality of being diverse. Which is to say having a collection of things that have different natures and tendancies. In the context of human society, 'diversity' is usually used to mean ETHNIC diversity or CULTURAL diversity, though these are hardly the only kinds of diversity in existance.

Personally, one of the forms of diversity that attracts me a lot is the kind of cultural diversity to be observed by taking slices out of history. The world-view of people a thousand, a hundred, and sometimes only ten years ago is often very different from our own, and I find it rather humbling to consider that much of what our society takes for granted will probably be viewed as antiquated - if not outright ludicrous - by future generations.
