I would choose "One Flew Over The Cookoo's Nest." Generally the book is better than the movie and that was one of my favorite movies.

I would say The Bluest Eye or One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest since I read both in high school and wrote research papers on both.

Either One Flew Over the Cuckoo's nest- a story of a man living in an insane asylum (very good!!!)
or The Bluest Eye- a story of an African American girl wanting to have blue eyes like the white girls (especially recommend)
It all depends on what you think though, what you are personally interested in. But I would probably choose one of these two. Both fantastic books but short reads.

The easiest book to read would be A Clockwork Orange.
I have read it. It is not a long story. It is another novel similar to the distopian novels "1984" and "Brave New World." The main character, Alex, is a likeable bloke. The story is filled with the slang of the young people of the time, but there is a dictionary in the back of the novel, and soon you will be used to its use, and using it with your friends! You also have the 1971 film A Clockwork Orange directed by Stanley Kubrick to refer to.
So, what are you waiting for?

I would choose "Like Water For Chocolate" because it would be easier for the romantic theme. One Flew over the cuckoo's nest is a good one too but more dense and dramatic. I believe the first choice would be lighter.
It all depends on what mood UR. gOOD LUCK.

One Flew......probably would be easiest to research. Somehow the story seems to reverberate through the news of our present world situations.
Yosarian as a suicide bomber? No, that wouldn't work, only one mission to fly. That was Catch 22, my apologies.
