Laguna is a big province, and has plenty of nice areas to choose from.

If they are into golf, Canlubang has a two eighteen-hole golf course.

If they are into hot springs, Los Banos has plenty of hot spring resorts. University of the Philippines Los Banos (UPLB) offers wide open areas suitable for morning jogs. If they are interested in studying, this is a good place to go. The school also offers stage plays, exhibits of visual artists' works, talents from all over the country.

There are plenty of plantations in Laguna, thus fresh produce is cheaper.

There are plenty of places and things to do:

in Alaminos, there is a protected area with centuries-old trees;
in San Pablo during the Lenten season, there is a parade of life-sized statues in full regalia;
in Quezon Province nearby, there is Pahiyas during May, to celebrate the bountiful harvest.

Welcome back to the balikbayans!

They're practically a stones throw away from each other there's almost no difference.

Well almost. I'd say Tagaytay, the palengke is known to sell cheap beef. Public park is not exactly a strongpoint of either, but there is the Tagaytay Picnic Grove which is one of the well known tourists spots there. Also, get property facing Taal lake for a breathtaking view.

Libraries! Oh man... if only we Filipinos liked to read more. I don't know of any libraries in either. Best libraries (if not the only libraries) will be found in univiersities and also, there is the National Library.

i would also suggest tagaytay coz its a lot cooler and no air pollution than laguna and a lot of first class resorts or community are being developed in tagaytay. tagaytay highlands, canyon woods, etc.

Filipiniana Tagaytay is a prime resort community located at the heart of Laurel Batangas, a first-class resort community that provides the finest of modern comfort and nature. Amid the numerous sprawling leisure communities, Filipiniana Tagaytay stands out as the only Filipino-inspired resort community in the country. It takes pride in Filipino's rich traditions and heritage and showcases the best of Philippine architecture and culture in a grand, cool setting of Tagaytay, with homes commanding a breathtaking view of the picturesque Taal Lake and majestic Taal volcano.

Laguna, there are no nice malls around tagaytay. sure its lovely to stay there , but you might want to consider the fact that its near a volcano, which is showing signs of activity.
