My hubbys sis left her 2 yr. old & her 15 mth old girls with us so she could move in with her bfriend the babies dad was @ basic training so girls stayed with us for 5 wks. The mother was on drugs wouldnt take drug test @ DHR the new boyfriend was severly abusive to the mother of his child she says she can prob. pass a drug test now This all happened in Aug. she only tries to see her kids now when she thinks the daddy doesnt want her to, if he lets her see them she will not call for a week or so after but if he doesnt let her see them she harasses him and acts very childish. He has filed for sole custody and wants her to only have supervised visitation does she have any chance of getting more than that?

Your brother in law has every right to stomp his kids moms butt into the ground in court. Does he have documentation to back up his claims? Have him ask for his ex to get a phsycological exam in court. Also ask for a hair strand annalysis. It will tell you her drug history for the last five years. Make sure he has documentation for phone calls (ie. call the phone company for incomming call records) and visitation. Good luck and keep those kids safe! They don't deserve a mother that does that to them. What a crock of you know what. (check out parental rights on the child exploitation website.)

I would hope she couldn't get anything more than supervised visits based on what you've told us, but I don't know anything about it...

I know this woman who basically left her kid with relatives and she was on drugs really bad, too... but in her case, doing drugs was more important than seeing her kid, so she rarely came around anyway... the dad was also on drugs and in and out of jail, but somehow he got custody of his kid after he was released from jail... and then he screwed up again, so the family once again got the kid. They let a family friend adopt the kid so that the druggie parents could not find him... I hope that doesn't happen with you, b/c it's one of the most pathetic things I've ever seen a child go through. He was just a baby, but you can tell that all that he'd been through had an effect on him...

I hope all of this works out for the kids' sake!

depends on the judge, some think that no matter how horrible the mother she should raise them. I've meet a few guys that have custody of the kids hands down because he was just plain the better parent. Keeping my fingers crossed for the dad.

if she's on drugs and in an abusive relationship I hope not. protect them little girls no matter what. Ask the judge that she take a drug test but be prepared they may want you to take one too.

That depends on the courts. If the court feels it would be in the children's best interest for her to have unsupervised visitations she will be able to. Since there is no court order of visitation now she can see (or not) them anytime she chooses.

She has a chance (you never know what kind of idiot might be the judge) but hopefully for those little girls won't be put into such a bad situation.
