Quick question. Just how well do You know Your Husband? I'll give You an idea of what I mean. I once bought Wendy a telescope for Her Birthday. Not what some would call the most romantic present One could buy a loved one, right? Wrong. She found a use for it (other than watching the neighbors) and even managed to learn to find Her way around the night sky. Talk about "star crossed lovers", it gave us a mutual interest.
I, like most Men like My privacy and relaxation. A cold beer (glass of wine) and a BBQ on a nice evening under the stars with the manifold mysteries of the universe unfolding before Me brings out both the primitive and the intellectual sides of My nature.
A reasonably priced telescope is a good investment.......and it gives You an opportunity for a little romance. Besides which Your children can always be sent (locked) outside to play with it. Trust Me on this,

Sex =P
lol, just playing with you, uhh, to each his own, if hes real outdoors, you could get him something like a rifle, or since your moving to Hawaii a fishing line, you say its personal, well, you could give him a lame gift to put on the show for his kids, then go with him to the store some other time to get it with him
If hes into music, well, are there any acts coming to you soon he'll like, if not, you could get him a GOOD CD player or an Mp3 Player.
Look, most guys dont want to let on to their sensitive side, but you could take him to some romantic weekend getaway, only you too...
Or you could get him his graphing calculator

Does he like sports? Any favorite ones? Favorite players?
if so, get on ebay and seek out a autographed item, but ya better do it quick, time is ticking away......
Also, how about a magazine subscription, playboy, or field and stream-get him a metal detector to use underwater in Hawaii to find treasures !
Richard Petty driving experience, for the thrill of driving a nascar type car on a track ! Think outside the wrapped Christmas gift box and GOOD LUCK !

Try gifts.com. It helps you find gift ideas by personality/interests.
If he loves hunting and fishing, what about an outdoorsey get-away type trip...deep sea fishing...whale watching...
What about the Nintendo Wii...Playstation 3?
Does he like planes n such? Someone I know received jet fighter flying lessons. That's sooo cool!
Or if you're moving to Hawaii, how about a guided tour of the Island? I'm sure they offer tours of caves, dormant volcanoes, the flora and fauna. That would be gorgeous!

Ya, I don't like the idea of sex being used as a weapon. It should be mutually enjoyable. However, I think something a little more spicy, a sexy new outfit, lingerie, or some other special fantasy or treat can be a fun x-mas gift for a spouse.

If he really wants the graphing calculator, and you can afford it, then get it. Guys are not like women who don't like toasters and other useful gadgets for gifts. And as you well know, your man doesn't care for jewelry, nor clothing for a gift. Get him his toy and keep him happy...
Then again, you could get him a GPS device or there is always magazine subscriptions, western outdoor news for example...

Assuming you're not fussy about price, try one of the new Blackberries. They do MP3, pictures & video, in addition to the usual voice and text messaging. He can carry his entire music library, family photos etc. anywhere he goes. I think some of them also have GPS features. If you want to pre-load it with some 'special' photos so much the better...

Why not something more with a personal message and touch! Create a nice coupon offer for one full night of body massage and or a strip tease! He will love you for that one night you let your inhibitions down...and his! Have fun!

OK, he sounds a little like me.
How bout weapons that he wouldn't buy to hunt on his own. Bow and arrow, crossbow, something along that line. Guys (like me) that like guns like other things too, its just we wouldn't pick them first.
PS how the heck did he manage Hawaii? Must be tough.
