I definitely think that humans, or the descendents of humans, will eventually be able to possess some kinds of superpowers. Whether or not the government regulates them or if they're intentional will have to be seen in the future, but I think it's a sure bet that it will happen eventually. You don't have to even consider any research on extraordinary abilities being done today. Just consider the idea that the human race will be around for quite some time if we don't kill ourselves with nuclear weapons and as long as the earth can sustain us. At some point in those future millions of years, there are bound to be genetic modifications. Mapping the genome is just one of the first steps in the process.

in a sence.. I think with the way genetic engineering is going, if we don't all kill ourselves before then, we'll alter the genes to not only eliminate diseases but start adding super-athletic ability, smarts, ect. No reason why it wouldn't evolve from that and become superpowers. Especially things like telokenesis. Some people can apparently tap into this already, with research I believe we could easily get into this part of our brain.

no. if life keeps going the way it is for about 200 more years we will probably all deform instead. if it keeps going the way it does that long, human existance will just be a memory.
