No, it's not OK. However, consider this: For years, government employees come in at night and bring in small pieces of marble by the ton, and scatter them around the site. The tourists take them, generally none the wiser, thinking they have a piece of history.

Leave it be! Why do you feel you have to take a piece??..if everyone did, there wouldnt be a Parthenon left. Are you that selfish? Its a national treasure and an international wonder. Not sure, but it probably is also under some UN designation. Ethically, its wrong, and you might even end up getting in a helluva lot of trouble and chucked in jail. So hope your memories and pics are enough, mate. And anyway, you might get haunted down by Apollo or one of his godly friends..

Yes,with pleasure.Take as much as you want.Don't bother. Are you kidding? Are you trying to imitate Elgin?Bear in mind tht a year after he took Apollon's nose he had his own nose gone(as a matter of fact it fell down). His curse will be with u.British think that the marbles Elgin stole are legally under their ownership. They think tht there must be a co-ownership with Greece. The foreign minister of Greece said tht we can make copies of them sth tht present technology allows and give them to u so tht u will be able to present them in your museum. And the retort of the british side was: Why not to be the other way round?I will stay to the answer given. The original with originals!!!!Bring your spade and your torch as you will have to dig during the night time...SShhhh!!!Whispeeer.... .Don't forget to wear gloves..For the fingerprints,u know!!good luck!

It is illegal to take anything, even a random stone, out of an archaeological site in Greece. So basically you are not allowed to even touch anything, let alone take it with you!

Of course it's o.k. I'm pretty sure the greeks encourage this sort of ignorant behavior. Just be sure to declare it when passing customs.
