well, to put it bluntly, they are the two main characters of the story, star crossed lovers kept apart by an ancient feud. The title is almost the only place in the story that these two are peacefully together- besides the death(unless you are referring to the comedy of Romeo and Juliet- there are two different versions)

The play is about two young people and therefore named for them. Romeo is son of Montague and Juliet is daughter of Capulet. They are in love. The two families are feuding and their fathers forbid their love/marriage. Juliet's father arranges for her to marry another. The two lovers sneak around to see each other, but finally believe they are doomed, kill themselves.
Of course, the feuding fathers then regret the deaths of their children, too late.
Juliet was supposed to be about 15 and Romeo about 17, so they were at the age that everything is earth-shaking. Killing yourself for love is a lot easier than living for love.
Shakespeare was a playwrite and did drama and comedy magnificently.
But don't bother trying to read the play. You have obviously not had the education to read or understand it. Not your fault. The American school system threw out the classics years ago. Along with most of the other difficult subjects. Too bad, you miss a lot of good stuff.

Weeelllllll....it's a play about two teens in love from rival families that ends tragically. So, probably "Romeo and Juliet" worked better for Shakespeare than calling it "The Montagues and the Capulets" or "Baby, Don't Drink that Potion for Me".

It skill the call of a element does not make the element itself. it ought to nonetheless be sweet smelling if it had yet another call. Juliet means that Romeo is perfection were he suggested as some thing else. interior the plot, the rigidity is between both households. not a lot else. So which means no remember what their kinfolk names, Romeo remains gorgeous.

i guess to shakespeare it sounded more appropriate to two lovers that we're so much in love with one another.the story revolves around them so i guess he chose the name of the characters that signifies the title romeo and juliet.

there really is no significance, but the title suggests the two main characters that end up dying for love anyway.
