I had my membranes swept earlier today. I have had contractions very irregular and not very painful just uncomfortable, also some cramping. During the procedure there was blood and when i got home, there was this icky brown stuff that i still have. How long does it normally take to go into labor from here. I was 2-3 cm b/f I was stripped. I've heard that if you bleed then the success rate is pretty much a gaurantee? Please help

Some women go into labor that same day. I had mine done twice, and nothing happened for a week. And, I bled both times. It's a crapshoot, really. Get your partner into bed with you, and relax. Good luck and congratulations!

well.. you are gaurenteed to go into labor no matter what. Some people have good success.. and others still wait weeks. I just saw a discussion on this in a parenting forum and it was about 50/50 worked immediately and had no effect.

Everyone I know that it has worked for went into labor within 24 hours. That being said I know plenty of women that it never worked for whether they had any bleeding or not.

Good luck!
