I have some cell phone voice mails that I need to save. In years past I would have used a taperecorder. However, I want to save these to audio CD. I am planning to put my mic up to the cell phone speaker and record these. I am using Windows XP (Home Ed.). What program do I use? How do I do it? -- Thanks, DAVE

agree with kikiki... about transferring data direct from your phone with cable and software from your cellphone supplier. but if you insist....
Get Audacity free software and record using that.
Some instructions at: http://www.cassette2cd.co.uk/diy
download at: http://www.cassette2cd.co.uk/downloads.php
For the instructions see your microphone as being the same as a tape player.... hope this helps

It would sound a lot better if you could download the files digitally to your PC without recording them yourself, but you gotta do what you gotta do...

I would get Audacity. It's a free full-featured audio software. I recommend it because Windows probably has crappy recording software that comes with it, and I don't really know how to use that. Oh!! if you go to Start - Accessories - Entertainment - Sound Recorder there's a little program that pops up. (Crappy, like I said earlier). This looks extremely simple, so maybe you will find it adequate if you're looking for ease of use, not quality.

Record the sound in wav format or mp3. wav is much easier but it takes up a lot of room. so if your pc doesn't have enough free space, do them in mp3. Both formats convert easily to audio cd. Just drag and drop them to your burning program and away yougo.

first you have to get something that rocords sounds, i recommend a cheap mp3 with that option, then after you record your voice download it onto your computer, finally burn it onto your CD
