i think the braves must have a heck of a good replacement eather in the minors on on the block.
Giles was the best 2ndbaseman the braves have ever had. I think it was a dumb move because i met Giles he a great player and even a better person.
GO GILES!!!!!!!

One player does not a team make. Besides, considering the ever-shrinking budget the Braves have, the team had virtually no choice. I'm not happy that Giles wasn't offered a contract either, but it's a part of the game that has to be lived with; rarely does one player spend his entire major-league career with one team anymore (like George Brett and Jeff Bagwell). Braves fans shouldn't be all pessimistic about their upcoming season just because a popular player leaves; Glavine and Maddux both left and Atlanta still won division titles after that. I honestly think Bobby Cox and company can still put a winning team on the field.

It didn't really matter b/c The Braves are finding younger talent but Giles will be missed by Braves fans.

the Braves are probably gonna get last place next year cuz I don't think those minor leaguers are going to do as well as Marcus Giles. Whatever team he goes to I'll buy one of their jerseys.

What's so wrong about it? It's a common baseball practice. David Ortiz was non-tendored by the Twins and I don't think he's hurting from it.

Now Giles gets the chance to sign on with anyone, and probably make more than he would have otherwise.

It was a business decision, pure and simple. Marcus is arbitration eligible and probably would have gotten a raise despite an off year. He also has a reputation of being injury prone. But he is definitely a good player and I hope the Mets pick him up to play 2nd base, although he would probably opt to play in San Diego with his big brother (Brian).

I think they will be sorry and regret letting him go. The Braves are my favorite team for a long time now, and have let several favorites go down through the years. Marcus was and will always be a favorite of mine.

He had an off year and was going to get a huge payraise in arbitration this year. Why should they keep him? Do you think he would have taken a discounted salary to stay with the Braves?? They have minor league talent that could fill in admirably for him.
