Ovulation question... May be gross to some (sorry)...?

They say a sign to ovulation is stretchy, clear discharge (similar to egg whites). Does this discharge appear right before you ovulate or once you've ovulated? I'm trying to get pregnant, and this has always confused me!

i planned my pregnancy and what worked for me was i counted 14 days after my period ...so my period was on the 25 of april and i had sex om the 9th of may and we dident use a condom and i just left his stuff inside me over night and it worked im 33 weeks pregnant with my son..
